Network Specialist – 557459 DescriptionIn this position, you will be responsible for defining the scope of involvement and delivering the network analysis and characterization of enterprise IT services, design and implement network performance services, defining and developing the network performance engineering strategy, analyzing how applications use the network and suggesting improvements, troubleshooting complex network issues of existing services. You will be providing strategic direction to the team on new service offerings and capabilities development. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Supporting internal customers on new application and software service deployments by analyzing the network characteristics of applications, assessing the impact of these services on the network and ensuring they do so efficiently
- Encompassing a variety of activities including requirements gathering, planning project activities, communication to stakeholders, developing solutions, successful implementation of projects and influencing the customers to incorporate necessary changes
- Managing technical projects
- Researching new technology and/or products and/or tools
- Performing impact analysis of new technologies on the network environment
- Analyzing and troubleshooting complex and advanced problems
- Planning and scheduling work to meet deadlines established by others to ensure the completion of several related tasks
- Using judgment in data analysis to develop and design solutions for complex processes
QualificationsYou should possess a relevant educational qualification. Additional qualifications include:
- Good understanding of OSI and TCP and/or IP protocol architectures, addressing, flow control and windowing
- Background in network and application flow analysis
- Good analytical skills, strong problem solving and resolution skills, experience in application and network troubleshooting
- Network certification (CCNA, CCNP, Sniffer certification and others)
- Experience with using one of the following analysis tools (Sniffer Pro�, OPNET IT Guru�, Compuware� Vantage expert, Ethereal� or other analysis tools
- Experience in writing technical documents and presentations
- Experience in influencing customers (software suppliers internal or external) to make the right business decisions and obtaining buy in
- Experience in networking technologies: LAN, network protocols, routing, WAN, its protocols, design and implementation
