Software Test Engineer (System Admin/Network Admin Background)

Job Description

Setup and deploy approved solution configurations according to specification required for testing
Escalate and manage vendor incidents and resolution for hardware validation defects
Capture and collect relevant information required to escalate issues to engineering
Actively manage and communicate scope, level of effort, and risk involved in delivery
Work with hardware vendors to proactively manage vendor software updates and consult with engineering on risk assessments
Conduct functional and compatibility testing on approved solution configurations
Document the testing result following the quality processes

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirement:
Software
• Must have in-depth Windows working experience (MCSE certified)
• In-depth Windows experiences such as DNS, Active Directory & Group Policy etc.
• Windows event logs
Example: All Hardware Event IDs generated by HW errors should match vendor documentation
• Microsoft Cluster Services
• TCP/IP
• SQL server experience and can perform basic queries and use profiler
• IIS
• Familiar with basic testing tools and windows performance counters

Hardware
• IBM/HP Wintel Hardware
Example: Installation, configuration and maintenance of IBM / HP server hardware.
• RAID
Example: Create/Rebuild RAID Volumes, Generate known HW events such as Fan failure
• SAN/DAS
Example: Creating LUNs, expanding LUNs etc.
• Hardware Monitoring
Example: Performance counters, familiar with any system monitoring tool.
• Hardware validation: Bios, firmware, and device drivers
Example: Capable of verifying HW/OS stability across driver/firmware revisions
