Managed Security Services - Sr Engineer Job DescriptionThis is a position in Symantec’s Managed Security Services business responsible for the global firewall service delivery to current customers. This position is one of several engineers working as a team to continuously improve the collective level of service delivered to our diverse client base.
Responsibilities
• Develop security policy baselines for device deployments and ensure the baselines are followed
• Lead product engineering efforts including but not limited to developing documentation, product evaluation, and service integration for new and existing supported security products
• Perform security device installations
• Perform security device upgrades
• Perform non-standard changes on security devices
• Contribute to shared knowledgebase
• Communicate between product management, sales team, and business leaders
• Support operations by providing tier 3 support including escalating to third party security vendors
• Evaluate new security products
• Evaluate workflow and innovate time saving changes to operations
• Train and mentor Service Desk Engineers
• Resourced for pre-sales engagement with customers, partners and sales teams
• Onboard new clients and assist with moves, adds and changes to existing clients
• Interpret client needs and recommend service enhancements that would benefit all clients
Desired Profile Qualifications
Preferred Education
B.A. in the technical field or equivalent combination of education, training & work experience. Preferred Certifications Completed: CCNA, CCSA, CCSE, NCSA, RHCE
Related Experience Desired
3 to 5 years
Hands-on expertise designing and implementing technical security solutions, including firewalls and VPN’s. Verifiable experience with on site implementations of several of the following security devices: Checkpoint Fw-1/VPN-1, Symantec Gateway Security, Juniper Firewall, Cisco Pix/ASA, Nokia IPSO, strong knowledge of Linux/Unix configuration.
