Business Analyst Job DescriptionIn this position you will translate high-level user needs into detailed use cases, assist in the development of new products & enhancements and provide guidance to technical staff on the implementation of the solutions you have designed. The candidate should have a detailed understanding of the software development life cycle and the role played by an analyst. The candidate will help to define, test and document software solutions to assure quality of the final product and will provide training on the implementation of the new and enhanced processes.
Responsibilities:
Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
Strong analytic skills required, including the ability to interpret customer needs into application and operational requirements.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (use cases, storyboards/wireframes, test scenarios, etc.)
Serve as a conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
Develop accurate and comprehensive test plans and execute tests according to plans.
Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
Be a liaison between the organizational units, technology teams and support teams.
Desired Profile Bachelor's degree required
3+ years demonstrated business analyst experience on software development projects, complex projects in education administration, or other related experience.
Experience with writing and developing software requirements.
Experience with agile software development methodologies & lifecycles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Proficiency in MS Office
