Job DescriptionWe are looking for an individual who can help the Asynchronous Infrastructure Messaging Engineering team in our mission and responsibilities to provide Dell with quality engineering for asynchronous infrastructure messaging, primarily with WebSphere MQ. The MQ Engineer will partner with IT teams, to architect scalable solutions capable of supporting an enterprise. The individual will evaluate and provide engineering support for new versions of MQ and MQ corrective service and support packs. This person will provide 3rd level support for all implemented solutions and work with senior engineering staff to resolve more complex problem scenarios.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manages/participates in project lifecycle and deliver projects on time, on budget & within spec.
Participates in team meetings and assists with definition of systems design.
Assures projects adhere to published project management processes.
Provides input regarding scalability, capacity and performance as solutions grow.
Must show good communication skills and be able to work with several groups on assigned regional/global projects.
Must be able to provide assistance in Root Cause Analysis of problems.
Desired Candidate ProfileFunctional/Technical Requirements:
The candidate should have experience with WebSphere MQ in either programming, administration, or engineering role. This should include at least one of the following (a) programming to the MQ API in .NET or Java environment, or to Java messaging with an MQ implementation, including both coding and testing; (b) experience in administering MQ through MQ commands (MQSC) as well as familiarity with the Eclipse MQ explorer; (c) installing MQ through both the menu-driven interface as well as programmatically through install commands. The ideal candidate will be familiar with multiple environments (Windows, Compaq/HP NSK (Tandem), Linux on X86) in use at Dell. Any experience with MQ monitoring tools (particularly Nastel) is a definite plus. The candidate should be able to perform capacity planning for MQ production and development, as well as problem detection and resolution for MQ infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information System or equivalent knowledge
Possess 3-5 years of professional experience (3 years directly related to I/T) or functional area or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Ability to work independently with minimum guidance
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong team player with ability to work in a team and as individual contributor
Fast learner, flexible and able to work on multiple tasks
