Field Service Engineer Job Description - Perform Startup/Commissioning, Preventive Maintenance and Corrective/Unscheduled Maintenance on all APC equipment.
- Perform Advanced and Custom Audits of customer's site, working with Sales to complete Availability Assessments.
- Perform Installation consulting services at customer site as well as over the phone.
- Work with customers, contractors, other members of the team, Sales Partners, Tech Support, and Regional Manager to resolve escalated problems.
- Document all required information for each site visit performed.
- Manage installation projects as well as unit replacement when necessary.
- Properly document, label, and return all defective parts utilized in the repair of APC equipment to the designated disposal/repair location.
- Educate APC customers on basic operation of their equipment. Inform customers of issues which they may have experience with their equipment in a way which is beneficial to the customer as well as APC.
- Certification of Service Partners.
- Evaluate technical and professional performance of APC Service Partners.
- Provide supervision, training, and monitoring to other team members
Desired Profile Vast knowledge of mechanical/refrigeration component theory.
- Good technical knowledge of electricity.
- Good knowledge of HVAC Controllers.
- Must comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
- Must be able to perform duties with nominal direction only, receiving only general guidelines respect to overall division objectives. Work is independent of supervision. General supervision and guidance to other team members is required.
- Must operate within division policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives
- Participate and lead in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or other members of the team. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from large size groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations and concepts. Ability to calculate air flow rate, water flow rate, temperature/humidity deviation, superheat, subcooling, piping size, etc.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Must be agile and mobile with respect to finger, hand, arm and leg movement.
- Must be able to communicate (speak and hear) effectively and clearly to various intellectual levels
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 80 pounds
- Must be able to see and focus clearly up close as well as short distances.
- Must be able to be available 7x24 when necessary.
