Operations Manager - M5 Job Description Manages an organization of professional procurement staff which includes commodity managers, analysts, buyers, and procurement subject matter experts in either an internal and/or outsourced manufacturing environment. Develops and implements supply chain and procurement strategies supporting the business objectives of the region/global operation and in concert with the Global/General Business Unit (GBU) supply chain business plan. Responsible for meeting internal partner service level requirements ensuring end customer satisfaction. Broad areas of responsibilities include the management of the material requirements forecast supporting manufacturing, the procurement of products and services from suppliers and HP internal sources. Specific deliverables include: achieving cost savings goals, executing assurance of supply strategies, development of material replenishment strategies (i.e.; System Management Interface (SMI), buffering levels), direct ship fulfillment, disposition of non conforming material, supplier performance monitoring and delivery of services. Provides leadership for non-exempt and exempt (Entry to Expert level) procurement staff. Manages all aspects of procurement to meet supply, cost, and inventory goals. Develops and implements processes in support of the operational execution objectives of the business. Contributes to development and implementation of department / procurement / supply management strategies. Integrates group/product line business needs into execution plans. Works with various organizations to execute procurement processes (planning, finance, engineering, NPI, business and commodity owners). Develops and implements processes to achieve business objectives while managing HP risk and achieving business strategic goals. Establishes and maintains business linkages at sector/product line level and manages day to day relationships with key suppliers and outsourced manufacturing partners. Negotiates business contracts for regionally owned commodities. Work is primarily in support of operational objectives but may contribute to strategy development. Provides leadership and expertise to functional teams and participates in cross-functional initiatives. Recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for area of responsibility. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines. Does not require day-to-day supervision and has ability to handle most unique situations. Responsible for the development and management of strategies and tactical plans across multiple processes, businesses, and functions that are managed. Contributes to the development of broader regional /global/functional and business strategies to meet goals and objectives.
Desired Profile Education and Experience Required:
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Engineering/Technical degree, and 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires 2-3 years of supervisory / management and/or consulting experience.
