Software Engineer Job Description Cisco seeks a software engineer to design and build state-of-the-art service enabling software solutions and tools for Day 2 Operations and Optimization of IP Next-Generation networks.
Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities include authoring system functional/design specifications, prototyping/implementing complex software solutions/tools independently, troubleshooting complex system problems, contributing to peer design/code reviews and mentoring/leading junior team members.
Opportunities:
In this role, apart from working on various software technologies (Java, XML, Spring Framework, Web Services, Databases) , there will be opportunities to learn about various SP services/tools, Element/Network Management Systems and gain exposure to SP IPNGN networking technologies (MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, IPTV,WiMax). In addition, opportunities to participate in cross-functional teamwork/collaboration and exposure to all facets of the software development cycle from understanding marketing requirements to the delivery of service products.
Required Skills:
Programming: Java, XML, Web Services, Spring framework (MVC). User-Interface programming experience is desirable.
Design: OO principles, Design patterns, Information Modeling, DB schema design.
Operating Systems: Linux, Solaris
Applications/Tools: Oracle, Tomcat, Eclipse. Exposure to Struts, Hibernate desirable.
Networking: Basic networking knowledge (CCNA level). Any certifications (CCNA, CCNP etc.,) would be a plus.
Domain: Network Management (FCAPS) tools development experience would be a plus.
Other: Self-driven, analytical/problem solving and good communication skills.
Education/Experience :
Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 2-4+ years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 4-6+ yrs related experience.
