The Senior Associate Infrastructure L1 is responsible for setting up environments and provides technical support and guidance for the project/ engagement on development/ support/production environment, associated hardware, operating system, software products and network services
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Key Responsibility Areas - Major Activities
Infrastructure Support
a. Able to set up and manage complex environment
b. Monitoring IT infrastructure use and is the overall owner
c. Analyze and troubleshoot application system problems and determine causes; such as new configurations, software, or scripts, as required, and mitigate future occurrences
d. Install and maintain OS, application servers, web servers, content components along with detailed documentation describing implementation operational procedures
e. Responsible for applying patches, installing package and firmware etc
f. Work with the team who is responsible for evolving application infrastructure architecture
g. Provide input for configuration management for environments in project dev, test, Stage, production)
h. Analyze the business system with application requirement and coach sustaining team for Infra solutions
Production Support
a. Provide support for the production environment. Ensure application is set up and running
b. Provide application deployment support, and additions and changes to deployment environments.
c. Must be able to manage live sites
Planning & Estimation
a. Provides inputs to environment planning/management for various project activities (build, testing, acceptance testing)
b. Works with track lead on the development of standards, processes and procedures related to application security, upgrade management, and application deployment Identifies and escalate issues that might delay the work.
c. Reports progress and issues to the Project Manager, In particular, to relay issues that might impact to deliver to timescales
Client Interface
a. Provide day-to-day status for the client on track related communications like track status
Process Adherence
a. Delivers in conformance to sapient processes by applying sapient methodology/sapient framework
b. Adhere to the client or project specific quality and documentation standards as part of project execution
Design
a. Should be able to understand the project’s needs and design various environments and components of those environments
Desired Profile COMPETENCY PROFILE
Unix Shell Scripting / Perl, Networking, OS Administration, Web Server Administration, Infrastructure Design
DOMAIN COMPETENCIES
a. In addition to the intermediate, is able to write complex scripts, like log rotation, automation of recurring/mundane tasks, OS administration (CPU, memory, network monitoring). Also possess strong trouble shooting skills.
b. Demonstrates good command on understanding network design of a solution architecture.
c. Articulates network algorithm on failover and availability.
d. Should support and trouble shoot problems at the network layer.
e. Drives closure of complex connectivity and performance issues.
f. Also exhibits understanding of DNS, routing, sub netting, and demonstrate a deep understanding of enhancing security
g. Has Proficient level skills in one of the following (UNIX Administration - AIX, UNIX Administration - HP-UX, UNIX Administration - Red Hat/Linux, UNIX Administration - Solaris, Windows Server Administration)
h. Has Proficient level skills in one of the following (Web Server Administration - Apache HTTP Server, Web Server Administration - I-Planet, Web Server Administration - MS IIS)
i. Plays a key role in working with stakeholders in designing an infrastructure including, set up and consolidation, and experience strategizing the scale in order to match the growing business needs.
j. Works with various models and/or patterns in designing an infrastructure that includes the network, perimeter, application security, hardware capacity planning, and scalability requirements.
k. Works on several projects working with hardware and software vendors in coming up with a scalable infrastructure that meets the availability requirements of the client.
l. Implements various monitoring tools and alert mechanisms to handle incident response and escalation processes such as using opensource or commercial tools (HP Openview as example) for the infrastructure.
