The Solutions & Service Manager for Systems & storage Solutions & Services would
manage solution & service offerings related marketing functions across the portfolio
that would include product offering in the space of Main frames/ Servers, Data
Centers and their transformation in the areas of virtualization and optimization,
Storage & associated support services and Cloud Computing/ SaaS.
Desired Profile Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the development of market requirements for specific
product(s) or product line(s), services and solutions in the portfolios of that
would include product offering in the space of Main frames/ Servers, Data Centers
and their transformation in the areas of virtualization and optimization, Storage &
associated support services and Cloud Computing/ SaaS.
Responsible for supporting new solutions and assisting in the solution configuration
processes.
- Assists in the development of new business plans, managing lifecycles, and product
positioning in the market place.
- Performs market research, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer
needs.
- Acts as a technical advisor for specific product(s)/solution(s) assigned.
Activities may include directing the development of company market requirements for
specific product(s)/solution(s), services and solutions portfolios, assisting with
technical sales support, and assisting with go-to-market campaigns.
- Would work, interface and liaise with Sales and consulting teams on the one side
and Engineering team on the other side to ensure that the market requirements and
feedback are conveyed back and forth.
- Would also manage the team of product analysts and is accountable for delivery
from their individual portfolios.
Key deliverables would include:
• Requirements tracking … Works with development team to track development of
products to requirements. Works with Director or Senior Solution Manager and team to
determine product requirements.
• Perform market research – Performs web and analyst site research, participates in
analyst calls. Designs and executes primary level research.
• Competitive research – Research competitors and offerings, pricing, feature sets,
win/loss information, write relevant reports with detail, extract to higher level
take aways.
• Develop business plans and gain approval from management for investments through
the phase review process
• Demo Creation – In combination with creative resources, create compelling demo
content for use with customers and internally. Includes both outbound demonstrations
such as flash or video, as well as live demonstrations. For a business oriented
candidate, live demonstration creation may be performed in combination with a
technical resource elsewhere on the team.
• Sales tools and collateral creation – works with Solution Manager / Director as
well as field and creative resources to create collateral - base level (web content,
data sheets, quick pages) and extended (success stories, white papers, flash
resources, presentation sets, training materials, etc.)
• Track performance of program throughout the lifecycle and adjust program execution
to ensure revenue and profit commitments are met.
Thus the job would need a combination of individual contribution and managerial.
Experience :
• 5 - 15 Years of related marketing or product management experience
Experience :
• Background in Product Management or Product Marketing desirable
• Data Center customer experience and contact
• Experience in partner/ Alliance management desired
• Experience with working with enterprise direct sales organizations desired
• Enterprise systems management / software / services background
Skills – Mandatory
• Orientation toward both people and technology.
• Solid understanding of key technologies
• Market Research skills
• Strong communication skills for both technical and business audiences – written
and verbal
• Ability to balance priorities and time / resource commitments – with both a
tactical and strategic approach
