Attending Consultant - Cardiac Surgery JobsCafe.com Job Description • Pre-operative evaluation of all patients, checking investigation, consultants and
clearances and ordering special investigations and consultation under supervision of
consultants/Sr. consultants.
• Post-operative care of patients including examination, daily progress of patients,
checking investigations, diagnosing complications, dressings, drain removal, pacing
wire removal and ordering treatment under supervision of consultant/ Sr. Consultant.
• Intensive care of patients in surgical ICU, monitoring progress of patients and
diagnosing complications, organizing and coordinate emergency interventions and
resuscitation in case of emergency
• Perform emergency call duties attending all requests for consultations/referrals
and coordinate management under supervision of consultants/ Sr. consultants. Remain
in hospital for night duties by rotation.
• Assist surgery in O.T. including opening and closing chest harvesting conduits,
going on and coming off CPB, re-exploration and performing simple surgeries
independently
• Check discharge summaries prepared by medical officers and finalizing treatment
and instructions on discharge from hospital.
• Training/Teaching of Resident and Nurses, assisting in maintenance of database and
academic classes, lectures publications
• Treat patients and perform clinical procedures as per the clinical privileges
authorized.
• Assisting senior consultants and consultant in managing OPD, IPD & Emergencies
patients.
• Doing the medical procedure as per the consultant doctor’s advice/supervision
after getting the consent from patient’s attendant.
• Accompany consultant doctors on IPD Ward visits.
• Monitoring the progress of the patients.
• Check the diet chart, medicine chart, vitals chart frequently.
• Maintaining good relationship with staff, patients and their attendants
• To ensure that patient’s condition is communicated correctly to the relatives and
all their queries are answered appropriately
• Reporting to the duty in time as per the roster
• Strictly adhering to the medical ethics & management rules & regulations.
• To work collectively with the Nursing In charge to bring about quality improvement
in the department.
• To ascertain the strict implementation of various working protocols like BLS, ACLS
and infection control.
• Attending the training programmes and CMEs as and when required.
• Any other tasks assigned by the HOD/ management from time to time.
