Desired Candidate Profile

Work and Responsibilities

* Works on customer escalations that are reported by the Tech Support team in released versions of the Backup Exec product.

* Will need to develop a good understanding of the breadth of the Backup Exec product; hence previous experience on data protection products is highly desirable.

* Needs to be able to go through and analyse debug logs to get a first level understanding of the reported customer issue. The candidate would then be expected to reproduce the issue in-house. The candidate would also be expected to debug the issue on the local setup and identify the root cause of the issue. The candidate should also be able to identify any workarounds for the issue and recommend them to customers as an interim measure.

* In many instances, would be required to perform remote debugging of an issue on a setup provided by the customer.

* Needs to interact with Tech Support on a regular basis.

* Also needs to interact with product engineers and gain insight into the new features that are designed/developed in the product.

* Needs to participate in design reviews of product features.

* Follows the software lifecycle process when dealing with escalations.
 
Job Description

Technical Skills.

understanding of C, C++, Windows.

Excellent software debugging skills are a must; so too are good communication skills.

Knowledge of one or more databases (SQL, Oracle, Domino) is desirable.
