B.E./B.Tech. or M.C.A. in Computer Science from a reputed University.
At least 3 year of relevant industry experience, preferable in a database production support role
Proven record of achievements as a database developer for global applications
Experience of working with multi-cultural and geographically disparate teams.
Essential Skills
In-depth knowledge of Sybase
Expertise in writing jobs for uploading/extracting complex data into/from a global data environment
Working knowledge of Unix and shell scripts
Knowledge of FSDM or any other well known software development life-cycle methodology
Candidate is expected to have an eye for detail and be able to detect and resolve functional issues.
Desirable Skills / Experience
Experience of supporting a live data environment for a business critical application.
Experience with Perl, ASP, JavaScript, cgi, XML/XSLT and web based application technologies
Experience of working with tools such as Autosys or Control-M for bulk / end-of-day processing.
Understanding of the Investment Management industry, particularly Fund Accounting and Index data.
Knowledge of Oracle.
Experience of working with 3rd party market data providers
Experience of data migration / conversion projects
Knowledge or experience of database administration in Sybase or Oracle
Proficiency in UML and Object Oriented design, preferably with the Rational or Sparx toolset.
Experience of complete project lifecycle execution from Requirements Analysis to Production Support.
Experience in implementing high security features for sensitive data. Exposure to Active Directory or LDAP Authentication preferred.
Experience in performance tuning of large databases

Job DescriptionThe person will participate in the development, enhancement and maintenance of database applications both as single contributor and as a team member. Responsibilities include analysis, design, development, production implementation and support, data access code design, construction, performance review, tuning development background (Stored Procedures, Triggers) work on replication, partitioning, etc.
The successful candidate would also be expected to assist in documenting the data flows and business processes in order to prepare for a future re-engineering programme of the database and associated applications.
