These projects may include analyzing client requirements, implementation, customization, integration and documentation for the customer. Work closely with Project Managers, other EMCC personnel, and the customer to ensure a smooth implementation and transition from start-up to integration/production mode. Key responsibility is to assist senior staff with the successful execution of all consulting engagements including evaluating customers'' strategic business issues, identify requirements, create business case justifications, and propose appropriate enterprise solutions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Represents EMC in a professional manner to customers, EMC Partners and other EMCC personnel at all times.
Work closely with project managers, consultants, application developers and database administrators to develop scalable, maintainable, consistent, highly available storage solutions for EMC Consulting to meet business objectives and set relevant service-level agreements.
Support and report to Project Manager, for project related items, while assigned to active customer engagements. Ensures that all project communication with the customer goes through the Project Manager.
Assume complete ownership of deliverables.
Responsible for data collection, current state analysis and developing recommendations specific to different client environments to successfully deliver storage-related projects.
Analyzes requirements and assists in requirements implementation. Seeks advice or assistance from management as required during difficult customer situations. Works in conjunction with EMC Consulting colleagues to ensure effective resolution of technical issues encountered during implementations
Prepares, maintains and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures. Keeps project managers informed of activities, alerting of any issues promptly. Provides knowledge transfer throughout and at the completion of assigned projects
Relies on instructions and methodologies to perform functions of position. Performs according to established safety standards. Reports unsafe situations and recommends improvements
Facilitate ongoing self-evaluation of the teams effectiveness.
Up to 100% travel may be required for extended periods.
SKILLS
Must possess one or multiple of the mentioned certifications with at least intermediate proficiency - ETF, ISM, SNIA, Product-specific certifications from IBM, EMC, BC/DR specialist certifications
Should possess proficiency in hardware, software and/or operating systems environments. Should be confident in one or multiple of following operating system platforms Windows/Unix/Linux
Demonstrable and proven skill-set on multiple storage platforms/solutions available from various vendors IBM, EMC, HP.
Should have actively participated in the projects involving Storage Migration, Data Center Consolidation, Storage Tiering, Storage Virtualization etc.
Should be able to comprehend and analyze business requirements in large and complicated customer environments and have an approach to use technical skills to create real-time Solutions.
Organizational skills: Understands impact of late delivery of own tasks.
Analytical ability: Breaks problems down logically.
Problem solving skills: Ability to flag risk, issues and dependencies.
Good Communication skills, pleasant manner, approachable and can remain calm under pressure.
strong storage fundamentals,understanding both from business and technical perspectives, must have varied exposure to storage products/solutions
Desired Profile 4 year Engineering degree + at least 4 yrs of relevant IT experience.
Must have Consulting delivery experience in the Storage and Backup domain.
Work experience on multi-vendor storage products is essential. Must be familiar with the Data Center environment and related operations. Any experience with Storage and Backup related consultative engagements will be valuable.
Experience in Storage Designing and implementation is an added advantage.
Must have (intermediate level) knowledge on any or multiple flavors of the operating systems (Windows/Unix).
Should possess strong understanding and exposure to Fibre Channel Technologies SAN, NAS, iSCSI
Intermediate skill set in Microsoft products, especially MS Excel, MS Access (Database), and MS Word
